What Does a CASA Do?

Our local CASA program offers a volunteer opportunity like no other.  As appointed representatives of the court, CASA volunteers are empowered to make a lifelong difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. Local CASA volunteers advocate for over 250 children per year but there is still the need for advocacy. Our volunteers are an amazing force for good, but we need more of them. Our vision is that every child who needs a volunteer will have one, with no waiting. With your help, we can reach and maintain that goal.

Change a Child's Story - Become an Advocate

The goal of the volunteer application and interview is for CASA staff to learn more about you, for you to learn more about the role of CASA volunteers, and to determine if this volunteer opportunity is a good match for your interest and skills.

Once we have received a completed application we may invite you for an interview. All CASA volunteer candidates must complete a thorough screening and background inspection, must be interviewed by experienced CASA staff, and have three references.

CASA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religious preference, gender, gender expression, disability, sexual preference, or veteran status. Unfortunately, not every applicant is accepted for our volunteer positions. CASA reserves the right to deny a volunteer position to any applicant without explanation.

Together, we can stop the cycle of family violence and conflict, not only for this child but for many generations to come.

As a CASA volunteer, you will be able to work with competence. All of our advocate volunteers are thoroughly trained in courtroom procedure, social services, the juvenile justice system, domestic relations cases, and the special needs of abused and neglected children.

We welcome volunteers from all cultures, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. We have a particular need for men and minorities. Become a CASA volunteer and be rewarded with powerful and fulfilling experiences.

We hold our volunteers in the highest esteem; they are an invaluable asset to every facet of fulfilling CASA’s mission of advocacy for children. They provide passionate, extraordinary service without compromise for what is in a child’s best interest.
